Arithmetic Sequences (Medium)

AMC 10/12 mid (≈Q9–16) — multi-step.

Arithmetic Sequences: core idea

Sums.

Example problem: hint and answer

An arithmetic sequence has a3=11a_3=11 and a9=29a_9=29. Find a1a_1.

Hint: For sums, pair first and last terms or use Sn=n2(a1+an)S_n=\frac n2(a_1+a_n). Answer: 5.

Practice (9 problems — type your answers)
