Power of a Point (Hard)

Late AMC 10/12 through early AIME — dense computation.

Power of a Point: core idea

Chains of powers.

Example problem: hint and answer

Two circles meet at A,BA,B. Through PP on line ABAB, a line meets circles again at C,DC,D. If PC=4PC=4, PD=9PD=9, PA=3PA=3, find PBPB.

Hint: Equal powers. Answer: 12.

Practice (9 problems — type your answers)
